- _R_AM

_R_AM Series of rheostats are useful for colleges, industries and laboratories.

Rheostats are used as adjustable resistors in electrical circuits. With 3 terminals provision. Rheostats are also useful to vary a DC voltage smoothly from 0 to maximum value.

_R_AM Series of rheostats consist of a resistance wire wound on a non- magnetic and non-inductive metal core. The core is fitted between 2 aluminium end supports.

The contact block slides on a highly polished bright chrome plated square guide rod. Multiple brushes of phosphor bronze rolled strip give springy action to the contacts and hold brush firmly in contact with the resistance wire. The contact block can be slided smoothly with the help of a bakelite knob fitted with the contact block.

Two terminals of bright chrome plated brass nuts and screws, one at each end of the core and the third terminal at both ends of the guide rod, have been provided for easy connections. All electrical hardware is bright chrome plated of brass.

CURRENT CAPACITY - Available in current capacity of 0.3, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 amperes.

RESISTANCE VALUES - 2K, 4.5K and 25K ohms for 0.3 amps capacity.
300, 600, 1K and 2.5K ohms for 1 amp current capacity.
100, 200 and 500 ohms for 2 amps current capacity.
5, 12 and 100 ohms for 5 amps current capacity.
1.25, 4, 10 and 20 ohms for 10 amps current capacity.
0.6, 2, 5 and 10 ohms for 15 amps current capacity.
0.3 ohms for 20 amps current capacity.

TOLERANCE OF RESISTANCE - ±5% of value.

TEMPERATURE RISE - 200°C above ambient temperature.

HIGH VOLTAGE BREAKDOWN - Better than 2KV AC for 1 minute between end support and any 1 of the 3 terminals.

MAXIMUM WORKING VOLTAGE - Multiple of current capacity and resistance value, or 500 volts, whichever is lesser.

AMBIENT TEMPERATURE - 0 to 45°c.
